Events 2020
Earth Day, Orange
Because of the wisdom of shelter-in-place during the pandemic of COVID-19, we cannot gather as we do every year for Earth Day. However, we can share our celebration with an online kit from NASA. Choose one of many home activities on the NASA site. Then post your celebration on our FaceBook page: ImaniWorks. Find the tool kit here https://www.nasa.gov/content/earth-day-2020-50th-anniversary-toolkit
United Nations Consultation
As a consultant for the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the UN, our staff continues to respond to requests or written documents of what we are observing in the field. Watch our FaceBook page: ImaniWorks for new requests quarterly.
The Thang 2.0
The Affrolachian On-Time Music Gathering was so much fun, we plan to do it for a third year—even if we have to do it virtually. If you like mountain music, early banjo and fiddle music, we have the gathering for you. Learn about the Black American roots of On-Time and Appalachian music as some of the top performers in the genre gather to jam together. Watch for details. We are planning events for you to enjoy Sept 19,20. Stay tuned.
COVID-19 Drive-in Testing/Screening
It has been a challenge to secure testing for SARSCo2 the virus that has caused a pandemic. However, ImaniWorks clinic has secured testing for the rural citizens of Virginia. Many had to drive and hour or more from their homes while ill to wait in Emergency Departments just to request testing. Starting in early April, we began Drive-in Testing/Screening in Orange, VA at our clinic. The only charge for the Drive-in is a bill for the test (if you are tested) from LabCorp our partner. You or your insurance will be billed $52.00 if the test is done.
Thanks to the Virginia Department of Health, our volunteer staff has PPE. Thanks to generous donations, we have the test equipment that we need. Thanks to you, we are making a difference for the commonwealth of Virginia. Stay Safe. Wash your hands. Shelter in place or shelter your face.
